    The Rogue River School District Special Education Department strives to support all students, and their families, who meet the special education eligibility requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a federal special education law that requires school districts to provide a free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities. A free appropriate education encompasses special education and related services as described in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and provided to children in the least restrictive environment possible. 

    The Rogue River School District offers a wide range of special education services such as Autism Spectrum Disorder,Communication Disorder,  Deaf / Blindness, Emotionally Disturbed, Hearing Impairment,  Intellectual Impairment, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, and Traumatic Brain Injury. 

    Special Education services provided directly by the School District include:  Speech / Language Therapy, Resource Room Teachers and Support Staff, Psychological Evaluation and Consulting, Site-Based Classrooms for Eligible Students, Transition Services for Eligible Students Aged 18 - 21.

    Special Education programs provided by the district in collaboration with Regional Programs include: Physical Therapy, Vision Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Occupational Therapy,  Autism Spectrum Disorders and Behavior Consultation.

    CHILD FIND REQUIREMENTS

    Federal Law 105.17 known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that school districts provide a free and appropriate education to all disabled children and young adults from birth through 21 years of age. 

    The Rogue River School District requests assistance with the identification of any disabled children, ages 0 through 21, who are not enrolled or currently being served in one of the District's schools. If you know of any disabled children ages 0 through 21 who are not receiving education services, please call the Rogue River School District's Special Education Department at 541-582-6003.
